Life is a journey of self-exploration. What life lessons might you take away from Resonance 2024?

Embarking on a journey of self-exploration is a profound and transformative experience, especially for those who thrive on creativity and innovation. This journey is not just about discovering new ideas but also about understanding oneself deeply and finding purpose in every endeavour.

This idea is at the very heart of Resonance – a two day festival of ideas taking place each year in the twin towns of Killaloe and Ballina on the shores of Lough Derg.

This year we are delighted to welcome the following speakers, and the life lessons, humour, creativity and innovation that they will bring to Resonance Festival 2024.

Lessons from Jeremiah Gogo

Jeremiah Gogo, Head of Data, A&R Analytics & Business Development at Virgin Music UK, exemplifies the power of leveraging data and analytics to drive creativity and innovation in the music industry. His commitment to increasing access to the industry through initiatives like the Open Desk Programme highlights the importance of diversity and social mobility. For creatives, Gogo’s story underscores the value of using one’s position to support others and create opportunities for underrepresented groups.

Insights from John Lonergan

John Lonergan, the former Governor of Mountjoy Prison, offers profound lessons on leadership, empathy, and resilience. His career in the prison service, marked by a deep understanding of human nature and Irish society, teaches creatives the importance of compassion and integrity. Lonergan’s ability to navigate complex and often harsh environments with a focus on rehabilitation and humanity can inspire innovators to approach their work with a similar mindset.

Inspiration from Evelyn Cusack

Evelyn Cusack, former Head of Forecasting at Met Éireann, demonstrates the significance of perseverance and adaptability. Her long career in meteorology, marked by significant advancements in weather forecasting, shows how embracing change and technological innovation can lead to success. For creatives, Cusack’s journey highlights the importance of staying current and continuously improving one’s skills and knowledge.

Wisdom from Sarah Hourigan

Sarah Hourigan, Project Lead for National Woodlands for Health & Nature, emphasizes the healing power of nature and its role in mental health. Her work in developing woodland-based programs for mental health recovery teaches creatives the value of integrating nature into their lives and work. Hourigan’s approach to holistic well-being can inspire innovators to consider the broader impact of their work on their own health and the environment.

Creativity from David Speed

David Speed, a neon artist known for his vibrant and captivating works, embodies the spirit of innovation and self-expression. His journey from illegal graffiti to becoming a celebrated neon artist highlights the importance of staying true to one’s passion and continuously evolving one’s craft. Speed’s story encourages creatives to embrace their unique style and push the boundaries of their art.

All of this – for one night only – is brought together, on our Source Stage, at the Lakeside Hotel and Leisure Centre, on the banks of the majestic River Shannon.

The River Shannon was named after Sionnan, a goddess in Irish mythology. Legend has it that Sionnan went to Connla’s Well – the Well of Wisdom in the Celtic Otherworld – in search of wisdom.

For those with a passion for mythology one of our Resonance fringe events includes a ‘Myths & Legends’ talk. And the ‘fringe benefits’ don’t stop there with morning yoga, sauna cabin by the banks of Lough Derg and a Ukulele Workshop that’s guaranteed to bring a smile to everyone’s face.

For those wishing to develop their skills as a creative and innovative leader our leadership workshops are for you. Mix with this tribe-in-the-making of likeminded explorers over a networking lunch and share your stories and learn a little about theirs.

We really believe our 2024 programme will deeply resonate with you.

Steve Coakley.
